Circular Weaving Workshop

Learn the ways of weaving in the round as you make your own unique circular tapestry in this beginner level class. This is a really popular approach due to the simple tools needed and the flexibility and freedom to just go with the flow!

We’ll begin by discussing the similarities and differences to weaving on a straight loom while we wind the warp on our 10" wooden hoop frame to create the foundation.

Next we'll explore circle weaving with a focus on fibers and techniques that create dimension and texture. We'll wrap up by reviewing a variety of finishing options.

You’ll take home your finished piece on the frame ready to hang, and the inspiration and know-how to continue on your weaving journey!

teaching artist:

Callie McAuliffe is a native Portlander who found her love of arts and crafts at an early age. After briefly experimenting with many mediums such as acrylic painting, block printing, and watercolors, she finally found her favorite creative outlets. Artist and creator behind Callie MacDesigns, she specializes in all things wooden and woven. Callie loves bright colors and drawing inspiration from the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. She has been teaching classes since 2018, and when not teaching arts and crafts, she is teaching students life skills as a school counselor. Craft nights and crafternoons are some of Callie’s favorite things, especially when they bring makers together!
