Wooden Spoon Carving Workshop

Regular price $60.00
Join us for a unique hands-on woodworking workshop at Assembly!
Using simple hand tools and techniques, you’ll create a beautiful useful object: the wooden spoon. A handcarved cooking spoon can make a wonderful gift or provide the perfect rustic charm to your own kitchen.
You'll start with a wooden spoon blank and slowly carve out the long handle and custom shaped bowl. You'll learn how to safely use the whittling tools, including gouge and straight knives, and leave with tips on finishing your spoon through sanding and oiling.
All materials and tools will be provided for this beginner friendly class.

Teaching Artist

Noelle Vilela has always been drawn to artistic expression via numerous mediums. Living in Portland she has truly found a home as an artist. Feeling inspired by the beautiful city and the quiet power of nature she began noniko in 2010 as an outlet for metal smithing and her one of a kind pieces of jewelry. More recently she has shifted her focus to creating macrame and woven wall art. In 2017 she came on board with Assembly, where she enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion for crafts with students across all skill levels and ages.
